This summer, RICHARD MILLE unveiled the second chapter of its High Jewelry Watches collection, featuring the RM HJ-02 Automatic Tourbillon Skeleton Watch, powered by the new in-house CRMT2 movement. This series of 12 watches is entirely unique, following four color palettes: pink, purple, blue, and green, showcasing the ultimate expression of jewelry setting craftsmanship combined with exquisite mechanics.
This new collection is like 12 three-dimensional paintings, blending color, light, and form to create a harmonious whole. From the case, crown, and clasp to the movement, gemstones are set throughout, employing three major setting techniques: snow setting, bead setting, and bezel setting. Colored gemstones and decorative stones are arranged in geometric patterns inspired by Art Deco. The precision of the gemstone arrangement is like a frozen moment in a kaleidoscope—brilliant, individualistic, and unexpected.

Each watch is set with 1,399 precious gemstones and decorative stones, including rubies, sapphires, diamonds, emeralds, and Paraiba tourmalines, complemented by decorative gemstones such as malachite, chrysoprase, turquoise, and mother-of-pearl, creating a dazzling combination of colors. Each watch requires approximately 700 hours of work, equivalent to about 88 working days.
The CRMT2 automatic tourbillon skeleton movement is crafted in white gold, with gemstones set on the baseplate and bridges. The surface is treated with micro-blasting, chamfering, and rhodium plating, highlighting the core structure, including the rapidly rotating mainspring barrel and the variable inertia tourbillon, through stunning gemstone setting. The design of the rotor is particularly exquisite. While rotors set with diamonds or single gemstones may be seen before, the delicate and vibrant color scheme following the skeletonized lines and axis of the rotor is truly rare. As the automatic rotor spins rapidly, the persistence of vision creates a series of dazzling, swirling streaks of light, offering collectors an unprecedented dynamic rainbow spectrum.
The tonneau-shaped case no longer follows a single, continuous curve; instead, it reconstructs its overall silhouette with sharp turns, layered facets, and asymmetrical design. The case development took over a year, and the entire watch took over three years to develop. The classic three-piece case is assembled with 20 grade 5 titanium spline screws and 316L stainless steel wear-resistant washers, and features two nitrile rubber O-rings to ensure 50-meter water resistance. The functional case surface incorporates various jewelry-setting techniques, including baguette cuts and pavé setting of gemstones, or intricate marquetry-like setting of decorative stones.
